What’s your news? It could be a business anniversary, major milestone, new product, new starters, or achievement. I’ll run though the information with you and secure the details of the key people I need to interview. If there’s more than one person to talk to, and quote in the story, that’s fine! I’ll chat to as many people as needed to get all the crucial details, facts, and data.
PR INTERVIEWS: TALKING TO THOSE IN THE KNOW
Now it’s time for the PR interviews. I’m highly experienced at interviewing clients for PR purposes, from CEOs to legal firm Partners and marketing managers. I’ll prepare key interview questions and send those through ahead of time, so you’re fully prepared with no need to ‘think on the spot’. If there’s anything you’re not sure about - or need to check details of - it’s no problem. Clients often think of things to add post-interview!
PRESS RELEASE DRAFTING: CREATING YOUR PR PIECE
Once I have everything I need to know - and any facts and figures - I’ll draft your press release, focusing on the strongest angle for your target media. Through my journalism training and years of PR expertise and dealing with the media, I’m at expert at ensuring the news hook - and the who, what, why, where, when, and how - is covered straight away, so news editors can immediately see why your story is ‘newsworthy’. I’ll send through your first draft for review and approval circulation in the business. Feel free to make any changes to the press release and the quotes I’ve used from your PR interviews. I’ll use the best ‘soundbites’ of the interviews, so that everything that’s said in your press release enhances the story.
PRESS RELEASE ISSUING: MEDIA DISTRIBUTION
Once you’ve approved the press release, it’s over to you to distribute to your target media. Pro-tip: Give the news desks a call and let them know the story you’re sending on email. It’s best if you issue press releases internally (rather than using me as the media contact), as this helps to build up and strengthen your media relationships with your key trade press. So that when they need expert commentary from within your industry, they know who to call.
